PageRank - also called 'PR' for short - is Google's way of 'ranking' how popular your web page is in its massive index of web pages. What I won't go into is how it's calculated mathematically.What is important is to understand that PageRank is very important to Google, and thus should be considered when building backlinks. If you want to get pr8 backlinks for your website, you'll need to understand the basics of how PageRank works - so you can use that knowledge to your advantage.
How Does PageRank affect your Web page?
Since PageRank is the popularity of your web page, I'll explain, in very simple terms, how this popularity works. A high PageRank web page is number, 6,7 or 8 (in my opinion). Having a higher PageRank will mean that Google likes your page more because of some of the things your web page has done or is doing. How can backlinks boost my website traffic?
As we discussed, you want to get pr8 backlinks to websites that have a high PageRank - because this will build your credibility with Google. You also want to get pr8 backlinks with websites that are highly targeted to your web page content, or your niche. High PR backlinks means page 1 placement on Google, which means more traffic.
Here is an example
Lets say your niche is Internet Marketing and your keywords are make money online.
1. First, I have downloaded a PR checker called SEO QUAKE to my computer. (IT's FREE!) It gives instant PR results, alexia rating and so much more.
2. Now using a backlinks tool, like BackLink Agent, I type in my keyword phrase, choose my filter (in this case URL filter) and hit FIND BACKLINKS. 1000's of results come back to me.
3. Now I click on each result and SEO QUAKE gives me instant information of the page rank. Remember the backlinks that BackLink Agent has sniffed up for me are directly related to my niche. I just have to qualify them and now find the high PR webpages.
4. I don't only get PR8 backlinks, but also use any ONE WAY, NO FOLLOW and FREE backlinks that are DIRECTLY related to my niche. The more backlinks (that are relevant) the better. Google loves you even more!

you still got to do the work and find the backlinks. it takes time but speeds up the process than if you just do it yourself using google.

The tool is great for digging up forums, links, blogs to comment on, competition sites and to spy on your commpetition. I am sure there are other tools out there that sell at a MUCH bigger price that will do the same job. The great part about this tool is once you are a member you have unlimited updates and can get targeted backlinks to your site.
Well i found your article useful such that i now have the names of some tools i can use to help me promote and market my site and gain backlinks etc.
Only problem is my market is, if anything, too much of a niche, so much so that there aren't many sites with relevant content to gain relevant of high PR backlinks from!

If you cant find high pr in your niche, then you are going to have to at least get high pr from blog commenting. find blogs in the gardening niche with a pr of 3 and above and leave valuable comments. that has helped me a lot with some of my sites.

Yes, its a great tool - and teaches you a lot about the how and the why of getting backlinks. I use it a lot. and for 20 bucks - once off - its hardly anything!
